Yes, I’m slacking on my training. With the heat index over 100 it’s been hard to find the time to train. I have gone out on the bike a few times and been in the pool. My running is falling behind badly. I need to get more structured in my training and work off a plan. I found this site to be promising. http://www.triradar.com/training-advice/ironman-triathlon-training-plans/
I got up early this morning to train for all three sports. So I packed everything up in the Jeep and went down to the YMCA at Mount Trashmore. I started out in the pool and did laps for 15 minutes. This is the first time I really have worked on my swimming and I realized I have a lot of work to do. I was planning to do 30 minutes in the pool, but after the first 12 minutes I was almost done. My swimming technic is bad, my breathing between strokes is horrible. I need to find time to practice swimming more. Than I moved right into cycling. Did a quick change over in the locker room and jump on the bike. I completed 6 miles fine. I could have gone longer but wanted to ensure I had enough time for running. So I switched over to the run. I left my cycling shorts on to see if they would work as running shorts as well. I didn’t have any problems with them, but not sure how they would handle on a 26 mile run. I completed 2 miles before I had to stop. I was running out of time not energy. All in all I’m glad I went out this morning. I thinking about marking this a normal Saturday retinue.
Rode the bike to work again today. After yesterday I decided to hook up a gopro to the back of the bike to record the trip. Some cars get a little too close for comfort. It turned out to be a pretty cool video.
I increased the speed by 1200% so the hour long ride is only 5 minutes.
And of course it’s raining with no end in sight. I guess it’s going to be a wet ride home.
The hardest part about training for a triathlon is finding the time to train. I decided to try and take the bike to work a few days a week. This morning was the perfect morning for it. I did my best to stay off the busy rush hour streets. My legs are still sore from Saturday’s ride but I made it in just fine. I still need to get used to clipping in after a stop. It takes me way to long to get going at the stop lights.
